Sharing Information with Other States (Near Term)

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking creative ideas for a solution to utilize the National Driver Registry (NDR) data containing "pointers" to driver violation information from all DMVs and to allow a perioding full population match to keep the records current for our California drivers. Additionally, the solution must be able to handle requests from all fifty-one (51) jurisdictions.

Challenge

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking creative ideas for a solution to utilize the National Driver Registry (NDR) data containing "pointers" to driver violation information from all DMVs and to allow a perioding full population match to keep the records current for our California drivers. Additionally, the solution must be able to handle requests from all fifty-one (51) jurisdictions.

Background

Non-Commercial Driver history is mostly triggered by a predefined event, such as a renewal, duplicate issuance, or move across states.

Ideas Being Considered:

  • Do a one-time full scan of NDR to understand the scale of the gap population
  • Build a regular cadence with NDR to receive matched data

For more information, see the video recording of DMV Vendor Day (using password "RmkcpeR8").

Requirements & Outcome

Desired Outcome:

  • Timely and complete match to all California driver records with other states (pre-S2S implementation)
